Eating a healthy diet can mean the difference between living a long and healthy life and living a short one that causes health issues and disability. A healthy diet is basically a diet which helps to keep or improve general health. It is intended to ensure that all of the nutrients that are vital to life are provided to the body by the food we eat; this includes all of the major food groups, carbohydrates, proteins, fat, fruits, vegetables, fiber, essential fats, and other nutrients. A healthy diet gives the body the necessary nutrients: carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. However, eating a healthy and balanced diet does not only help to keep us healthy and strong, but it can also mean that we have fewer risks of disease and illness and live longer than those who do not observe such a diet.
